Data Center Systems Engineer

Group Objective/purpose

The team is responsible for the design, engineering, implementation
and ongoing support of the firm's new Data Center Distributed
Fabric. This group will work closely with the other technology
verticals, automation, workflow and operation teams to ensure our
current 2.0 architecture is deployed as well as our Next Generation
distributed fabric is selected.

Brief Description of role needed

The Data Center Engineer plays a vital role in the evaluation,
engineering, implementation and management of our next generation
distributed hosting environment leveraging virtualization, automation
and orchestration technologies. This position requires knowledge of
all aspects of data center hosting including server, storage and
networking. The ability to work closely with other technology
verticals as well as application developers to ensure a robust
scalable infrastructure is also required. The data center engineer
also supports the various system administration teams in the
migration of existing, siloed hosting environment to the service
oriented data center model. This position demands maintaining a
high-level of expertise within the aligned technologies that comprise
this infrastructure and will include all operational aspects
including new deployments, issue resolution and participation in on
call support until this is a environment is completely in production
and transitioned into our standard operation protocols.

Technical/Functional Qualifications needed

Candidate should possess 7+ years experience in an Enterprise Level
Distributed Data Center Environment with focus on one or more of the
following:
Servers Infrastructure Design/Engineering
Network Data Center or Campus Design/Engineering
Storage Design/Engineering
Ability to set architectural and tactical direction based on business
and strategic needs
Clear understanding of server, network and storage principals and
architecture
Have an in-depth understanding of Virtualization for one or more of
the following:
VMware (preferred)
Hyper-V
Other Hypervisors
Advance knowledge of OS internals with systems administration in
Windows and/or Linux OS a plus
Provide advanced troubleshooting of OS, storage and network components
Scripting experience
Experience in deploying and management of a large Data Center server,
storage or network environment
Experience with Cisco enterprise class switches and routers including
experience with EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, RIP routing protocols, spanning
tree, multicast, QOS, MPLS and security protocols. CCNA/CCNP
certification preferred
Knowledge of Ethernet(E/FE/GE) and analysis of TCP/IP, HSRP, VRRP,
LDAP, multicast(PIM/CGMP/IGMP), and other protocols is a plus
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to
effectively communicate with all levels of management and manage
multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
