SCOPE OF OPERATION:

The Software Engineer for SIGINT/ISR projects is an individual contributor on assigned project(s) in the BMSD engineering organization.

MISSION:

Perform and lead software engineering tasks on SIGINT (signals intelligence) and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) projects involving fully integrated tactical systems for military intelligence programs in remote and mobile ground station site locations.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

To achieve the mission for this position, the Staff Software Engineer must produce the following critical actions and results:

1. Software Engineering: Software development to include software plans, requirements analysis, software design, code, unit test, software integration and software qualification testing. Experience in Object-Oriented methods.

2. Subcontractor Interface: Work closely with software development subcontractors on technical issues, including defining technical requirements and monitoring technical performance. Ensure that subcontractors deliver critical capabilities to keep projects on schedule and meet customer needs. Participate in analysis of new capabilities and ongoing subcontractor evaluations.

3. Customer Collaboration: Assist engineering team with high level technical discussions with our customers, including participation in customer/GDC4S working groups and IPTs for SIGINT/ISR

4. Analytical Modeling and Design: Provide high level modeling and design of software capabilities

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:

The success of the Staff Software Engineer in achieving the objectives described above will be measured by the following:

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will have the following education, work history, knowledge, and skills.

Education: BS degree is required (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other Engineering). An advanced degree is desirable.

Experience, knowledge and skills:

7 or more years of relevant experience with recent experience with ISR systems design and development. Recent experience with a US Military, DoD and/or Government program environment is required.

Experience in:

Object-Oriented programming and methods

Software Development Languages: Java 1.5+, C#, C++/C

Technologies: Java Messaging Service (JMS), Webservices (SOAP), Remote Method Invocation (RMI), Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)

Application Server development: Oracle, Weblogic, Tomcat, Sun Application server, ANT

Experience with Eclipse, Visual Studio, Rational ClearCase, Rationale ClearQwest.

Additional skills desired:

Effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams of 4 or more supporting DoD/Government programs.

Demonstrated software engineering capability in programs that encompass system architecture, requirements analysis, analytical modeling, design, production, integration, test, and transition into operations.

Citizenship, Clearance, Travel:

Keep engineering log book for testing methods and records of experimentation. Perform duties as directed by his supervisor.

Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field. Must have diverse background and understanding of mechanical, electrical and embedded software systems. Must have superb troubleshooting skills in the above systems. 3-5 yrs experience is systems testing and troubleshooting. Inter-personnel skills within the engineering team as well as other functions within the company. Ability to work independently while interacting with engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel. Self motivated to learn new instruments and apply learning to new situations. Ability to set up diagnostic testing and analyze data to support troubleshooting.

Intrepid Potash is the United States’ largest producer of potash (forms of potassium carbonate and salts) and second in the production of langbenite (a sulfate of potash-magnesia).
 
Potassium, along with nitrogen and phosphorus are three premier agricultural nutrients of the world. The mineral processing of potash and langbenite requires substantial heat, mechanical (flotation, screening, compaction), and chemical energy to affect solubility. There are three surface plants comprising a $300 million facility. Crystallization and flotation are the primary processes.
 
Responsibilities:

Maintaining current technical knowledge as it applies to mining systems
Performing review of equipment failures to identify potential areas of focus
Identifying and eliminating unsafe conditions in a timely manner
Ensuring safe and effective power distribution exist in operations
Working with others to develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
Providing technical services to Operation Superintendents and direct reports to achieve budgetary goals and solve short-range processing problems.
Performing design feasibility and implementation for plant upgrades.
Training technicians in proper performance testing protocol and implementation.
Assisting engineers, supervisors and consultants with special project analysis.
